The European Commission Blue Book Traineeship Programme 2027 is now accepting applications for its March 2027 intake. The five month paid traineeship offers graduates the opportunity to gain international work experience within the European Commission, its agencies, executive bodies and other EU institutions.
Trainees can gain practical experience in EU policymaking, administration, translation and international cooperation while working in a multicultural professional environment.

Who Can Apply?
The 2027 programme has expanded its eligibility to include Vocational Education and Training (VET) graduates for the first time.
University Graduates
Applicants generally need to:
- Hold a completed higher education degree equivalent to at least a three year Bachelor’s degree.
- Have no more than six weeks of previous experience in an EU institution or agency.
- Have a strong command of at least two EU official languages, including English, French or German at the required level.
VET Graduates
VET applicants must have completed an eligible vocational qualification and meet the programme’s language and experience requirements.
There is no age limit, while opportunities for non EU nationals are available in specific departments.
Types of Blue Book Traineeships
Applicants can apply for one of the following:
- Administrative Traineeship for University Graduates
- Administrative Traineeship for VET Graduates, newly introduced for 2027
- Translation Traineeship
