Eligibility Requirements for the Scholarship
- To be considered for the scholarship, you must
- be a permanent resident and passport holder of China, Indonesia, Malaysia or Kenya
- be paying fees at the overseas fee rate (any fee assessments must be completed by Monday 11 May 2026)
- have met any language condition of your offer by Monday 11 May 2026
- have a conditional or unconditional offer to study a one-year postgraduate taught course at the University of York by Monday 11 May 2026 (you don’t need to have accepted the offer).
You will not be eligible if
- you hold a 100% tuition fee scholarship or are fully sponsored
- you are a current student of the University of York, having started your studies in a previous year

- International Pathway College
- Distance/online learning courses
- Part-time courses
- Kaplan International College London
- MA Public Policy (Mundus MAPP)

About University of York GREAT Scholarship:
The University of York GREAT Scholarship is available to applicants from the preponderance of postgraduate taught courses in China, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Kenya. Applicants from Nigeria are only eligible to apply for one of her postgraduate law programs.
In collaboration with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of York is providing five scholarships to international students who are pursuing a diverse array of postgraduate courses.
The GREAT Scholarship 2026 program, which was initiated by the British Council in collaboration with 72 UK universities, provides postgraduate students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Greece, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey, and Vietnam with the opportunity to pursue world-class higher education opportunities in the United Kingdom.
