What Is The China Link Scholarship Program?

The China Link Short-term Scientific Exchange Scholarship Program is funded and managed by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). The programme supports foreign students, faculty members, researchers, and scholars invited by Chinese universities or research institutions for short term academic and scientific exchanges.

The scholarship aims to:

  • Promote international scientific cooperation

  • Support joint research initiatives
  • Build long term global academic networks

Participants can carry out research activities, attend lectures, collaborate on projects, and engage in cultural exchange during their stay in China.

In order to deepen the academic friendship and mutual understanding between Chinese and foreign young generation, and to build a platform for the exchange of scientific research young talents in the world, China Scholarship Council (CSC) continues to carry out China Link Short-term Scientific Exchange Scholarship Program (referred to as China Link Scholarship) in 2026.

Program Scheme

Funding Categories

General scholar: applicable to current undergraduates or graduates. 

Senior scholar: applicable to current Ph. D candidates or faculties

Duration

1-12 months

Start studying in China no later than August 31, 2027.  

Working Language

English or Chinese, depending on the program provided by the Chinese host universities. 

Study/Research Fields:

All disciplines other than Chinese language study.

Funding

Successful applicants will receive a full scholarship from CSC during their stay in China, including tuition waiver, free on-campus accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance and monthly stipend (CNY 3,000 for general scholars; CNY 3,500 for senior scholars).

Eligibility

  • Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China and be in good health both mentally and physically.
  • Be under 45 applying for general scholars. 
  • Be under 50 applying for senior scholars.
  • Register as full-time student or employed as full-time academic staff at CSC’s foreign partner university by the time of application and throughout the proposed stay in China.

  • Have obtained admission qualification from the host Chinese university for the next intake

Application Process

  • Applicants shall contact the host Chinese university in advance to obtain admission qualification.
  • It is recommended that applicants consult the host university’s international student admission department as early as possible to confirm the specific deadline for university-level review (requirements may vary by institution).
  • Applicants log in to the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login) to complete CSC online scholarship application. After submission, contact the host university’s international student admission department via email or the institution’s designated channel, and clearly inform them of the following information:「Full Name + CSC Serial Number + Application for China Link Scholarship」.

  • The CSC application portal is open to applicants all year round.
  • Host Chinese universities will process China Link Scholarship applications and must submit the scholarship nomination list to CSC at least 2 months before the students’ arrival in China. 
  • CSC notifies Chinese host universities of scholarship award results on a monthly basis. 
  • Host Chinese universities notify scholarship award results to applicants

Scholarship Benefits

Successful applicants for the China Link Scholarship Program 2026 may receive the following benefits:

1. Tuition Fee Waiver

The scholarship generally covers tuition and academic related fees during the exchange period.

2. Accommodation Support

Recipients may receive free university accommodation or a housing subsidy.

3. Monthly Stipend

Students and researchers may receive a monthly living allowance to help cover daily expenses.

4. Medical Insurance

Comprehensive medical insurance is usually provided for international participants.

5. Access To Research Facilities

Participants can use laboratories, libraries, and research facilities at host institutions in China.
